translating data into human stories

Teaching & Outreach

Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Discovery Days @ WesternAs a young female scientist, I am passionate about engaging the public with the science that surrounds us every day, and have never turned down an opportunity to speak to community, high school, or postsecondary audiences about my research, field work and investigative activities. I have given invited public lectures and workshops on behalf of Partners In Research’s Virtual Researcher On Call program, the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame, Discovery Days, Toronto Libraries, Engineers Without Borders, the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers, Rogers’ Raising the Grade program and various Ontario School Boards.

I am also committed to fostering experiential learning opportunities in University classrooms, and have taught as a teaching assistant and invited lecturer for field and lab courses in a number of Ontario Universities.

Expert On Call: Virtual Researcher On Call

The VROC Experts on Demand program uses online video conferencing software to connect K-12 students with college and university professors and professionals (Experts) in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Participating teachers can find me in the VROC Expert Book to connect on topics such as forensic science, science and the law, what it means to be human, human adaptation and evolution, archaeology, and others.
